Lion Heart back to competition
A few weeks back, my friend (and regular doubles partner) Lloyd "Lionheart" Mangahas, made his comeback to competition. Sidelined for quite sometime (since our runs in Tennis Montreal Doubles League 2012-13) and after a kidney transplant; the Saint-Laurent hero made his first step towards the World's Transplant Games 2015.
And hell of a first try... At the Canadian Transplant Games (held in Moncton, NB) Silver medal in Tennis Singles +30s, Gold medal in Tennis Mixed Doubles +30s (Got also silver and bronze in Badmington singles and doubles respectively, gold in the 400x100 relay, and gold in super weight softball throw)... Wow!
Lloyd is heading to represent Canada in the World's Transplant Games that will be held in my home country of Argentina in September 2015. Hopefully I will be there with my buddy and a bunch of his fans routing for this true champion (on and off court). The tennis tournament will take place on the red clay of Nautico Mar del Plata tennis club. This is where Guillermo Vilas (another lion) learnt to play tennis.
He will need some practice time on the slow and tricky surface, but I'm convinced that his finesse and dashing technique will be up to the task.
Pay attention those days... We may hear our young lion's roar once more from the other corner of the continent.
See you in the hunt.
Yours,
IRON GAUCHO
